ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Brianna Ector, Psy.D.
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist currently located in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a member of PSYPACT. (meaning I’m licensed to provide virtual tele-health services in 43 other states as well) I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA and my Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago IL.
Throughout my years of practice, I have worked with in hospital, community mental health, and college counseling settings as a diagnostician, group, couples, and individual therapists. And during this time I have developed my specialty working with LGBTQIAT & POC communities as well as trauma exposed populations and people struggling with grief, identity development, family rejection, sexual dysfunction and relationship difficulties.
My Clinical style is primarily informed by Relational Constructivist and Existential theory. I believe each client is the expert in their own experience. What we do in the therapy space if use evidenced based tools such as Clinical Hypnosis,Trauma Focused CBT, Cognitive therapy, Mindfulness, Emotion Focused therapy, and Narrative therapy, as well as other tools to aid clients in gaining awareness of their authentic self and identify what shifts must be made to live openly, safely and happily as their authentic self.

Assessment and treatment for trauma and stressor- related disorders including , sexual , relational, racial, and childhood trauma. Clients at SWP are assessed through a trauma informed lens and unique treatment plans are developed for each clients needs utilizing evidence based practices .
RELATIONSHIP / Couples treatment
Together we work as a team to create connection, as well as foster healthy communication and understanding between romantic partners in both monogamous and polyamorous relationship structures.
aNXIETY & dEPRESSIVE dISORDERS
Assessment and treatment for generalized anxiety, panic, major depressive disorder as well as other mood related disorders.
Sexual issues and concerns
Kink and poly aware assessment and treatment for conditions related to sexual concerns and functioning.

Learning who we are and how we wish to expressive our authentic selves to the world be that via gender expression, sexual identity , cultural identity, as well as other identities that may intersect and intertwine to from the whole of who we are is a fundamental journey we each take on our own time. Exploring the ways in which this journey may impact your mental health and finding ways to utilize evidence based practices to aid you on your goal of being your most authentic self.
